Anyone can enter photos!
Amateur, professional, local, year 'rounder, picker, grinner, lover, sinner, joker, smoker, midnight toker, Buddhist, Methodist, Jewish, UU, pagan, nihilist, recycler, coffee drinker, Secessionist, and, yes, even a Republican. |
Here's how to enter the calendar photo contest:
- Submit one, two, or three black & white 8 X 10 glossy photos of Peaks Island. Be sure to put your name, address, phone number and email on the back.
- Stick a label on the back or write gently so that impressions don't appear on the front of the picture.
- Do not mount photos
- By some means, get them into my mailbox at 284 Seashore Ave, Peaks Island, ME 04108 by August 15 at 9pm.
- No late entries will be accepted.
Winners selected by public vote at Peaks Cafe the following week
Here is how the voting works:
- I check my mailbox many times each day anxiously awaiting the entries. No kidding. This is like Christmas!
- I log in each entry and assign it a number so that no names are attached during the voting process.
- I take the entries (usually over 100 photos) and go to 10 jurors who are selected for their varied perspectives of the island, such as artists, my kids, my ex-husband, long time summer residents, island business owners, etc.
- The jury selects 25 photos for the finals and these photos are posted at the Peaks Café for the following week.
- Adults may vote once for their favorite 6 photos at the Peaks Café. Buy a coffee and a pastry while you are there.
- I tally up the votes, notify the winners by phone or email, and make a calendar.
- Winners receive three free calendars for each photo used.
